Naah not talking about Nokia....I am talking about the latest way of connecting people- Orkut. After I joined my job I hardly get time for checking my mails....replying is out of question. Honestly, after 9 hrs in front of office computer who feels like checking those forward mail messages. At least I don't. But what I do feel like doing and manage time too, is for Orkutting. That's the orkut addiction after all!
Thanks to orkut I found all my old pals in school and college, neighbours who had left, neighbours who are still around, crushes, the guy I "admired" in college, the guy I "hated" in college, acquaintances and many more. Thanks to orkut I have several new friends and a net sister from Lahore! Yes, you read it right. I got a net sister through this fantabulous Google community. I was always curious about lifestyle of people in Lahore. Now I know not only about their lifestyles but also about their customs, traditions and beliefs and ya fashion, movies and gossips! I was baffled initially to hear what young blood there thinks about the lifestyle here in India...and this pricisely is the reason I enjoy interacting with different people. Its good to talk about our perceptions and modify them, if need be.
Thanks to orkut, I have a wonderful friend now. Never thought Internet could actually be the medium for such beautiful friendship and getting the "divine connection" (I see my friend laughing here!)
On other days I manage half an hour or so, replying to the scraps (....and reading other people's scrapbooks...but that's not unethical, or is it?). It's after a really long time that I decided to pass my "surprise free time" doing some useless stuff. I decided to search all my childhood friends and cute neighbours who are now settled in some other part of this beautiful world. And I cannot stop thanking orkut! I found all those I was looking for (though seeing some people was a disappointment because of their "committed status" lol!!!). And not only can you find and interact with ones you were looking for but also have a peek-a-boo in their personal life!!! Now how cool is that!! (LOL) No, it is not that I am interested in anybody's personal life but it is surely interesting to see how people interact with different people. And is it not a good way of keeping an update of your friends' life!
I am orkutting simultaneously while writing this post and I just came across a very old friend of mine.....God he's lost so much weight! Ummm another advantage of orkutting get to see what old friends look like now! ;)
More useful benefits of orkutting includes participation in some interesting communities. I found a Journalists community. The helpful people out there guided me and wilfully answered my queries. I acquainted myself with interesting details in some communities and just came out of the illusion that mine is an "uncommon name." There are so many Purvazzz out there!
I am not surprised by the kind of popularity orkut has now. If you happen to meet somebody and plan to "keep in touch" just ask if he/she is on orkut and enjoy your connection with people!
